The Australian Jazz Convention began in 1946 and has run continously since then.

The AJC is the longest running Convention of its kind in the world.

It is held in a different town in Australia every year.

It begins on 26th December, and concludes on New Year's Eve (31st).

The 2012 AGM in Forbes enacted the following:

The original Steering Committee was dissolved.

In its place, an Executive Task Force was established.

This new Task Force will organise future Conventions.

The place of the next Convention will be decided at the AGM of the current Convention.
